Our little ceremony at Gulchleigh
About the Ceremony

We officially tied the knot at Katie's Grandma's house outside of Lexington, Virginia over Labor Day weekend. (While we're so excited to celebrate with you in NYC, our ceremony was intended to be very small and included immediate family only.)

The home and surrounding land was named Gulchleigh by Katie's grandparents and has been a gathering place for her family for summer vacations and holidays for her entire life. We've celebrated every Thanksgiving here since we met, and are grateful that we got to include Katie's Grandma Jane in the day's events. (She is 106 and still the Queen of Gulchleigh!) We were also overjoyed to get to share this special place with Ryan's family for the first time.

NYC & Us

NYC has been Katie's home for 16 years, Ryan's home for 9, and our home together for over 5, and we couldn't imagine throwing the party for our wedding anywhere else. For those of you who live here... you already know why! For those of you traveling here to celebrate with us... we're happy to give you an excuse to visit!

Our Favorite Local Spots

We also live very close to Hudson Terrace where we'll be celebrating, so if you need some inspiration of where to visit while you're in the area, here are some of our favorites.

See a Broadway Show

Of the shows that will be playing in November, here's what we have seen and can recommend. There are plenty more choices that you'll like if these don't appeal to you. Just definitely plan to see something!

Hamilton - Tickets for this one will be pricey and probably difficult to find, but it is most definitely worth the hype if you're up for the spend.

The Color Purple - Incredible performances, moving story and an overall incredible night at the theater.

School of Rock - Based on the movie and a real crowd-pleaser. Great for kids and adults and one of our favorite shows that has opened recently.

Jersey Boys - The songs and story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

Chicago - One of the longest-running shows on Broadway for good reason. Great if you want to see awesome dance.

The Book of Mormon - Incredibly funny, although not for the easily-offended!

Something Rotten - A hysterical ode to musicals.

Wicked - You must see this if you haven't. It's a satisfying spectacle.

On Your Feet - The songs and story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan. It's exactly what you'd expect and super fun.

The Humans - A new 90-minute play that is funny but also makes you consider the nature of life. An excellent option if you're not interested in a musical.

TICKET TIPS:

After choosing your show, look at Broadwaybox.com, Theatermania Discounts and Playbill Discounts to see if there is a discount code for tickets when you'll be here. If someone can go to the box office for you with the discount code, that will be the cheapest way for you to get tickets since you can avoid online booking fees. If not, you can either book online or wait until you get to New York to try your hand at TKTS or last-minute tickets. If the show you want doesn't have a discount, be sure to book through the show's official website to get the price directly from the theater. Any questions, shoot us a message!
